As of November 15, 2021, all inpatient services transitioned to HCA Florida University Hospital at Nova Southeastern University’s Davie campus.
The HCA Florida University Hospital at 3476 S. University Drive, in Davie, has about 650 employees and more than 600 physicians on staff. Most of the employees from the shuttered Plantation General Hospital, joined the staff of the new hospital.
Only a free-standing emergency room will remain open at the Plantation General Hospital site. Making an economic impact that may end up increasing taxes for the residents of the area.
City of Planation elected officials have historically neglected the area. The entire east side of the city is a grocery desert. City officials have issued ordinance variances to increase density of residential development and abandoned any type of employment opportunities for the east side or infrastructure investment.
